Samsung Biologics participated in BIO International Convention 2026, held in San Diego from June 22-25, where biopharmaceutical industry leaders from around the world gathered to exchange perspectives on the innovation and trends shaping the future of healthcare.

Conversations at this year’s BIO conference reflected an industry adapting to a rapidly changing landscape. As therapeutic modalities continue to diversify and development programs become increasingly complex, discussions centered on how organizations can prepare for future demand while staying flexible across research, development, and manufacturing.

Samsung Biologics team engaged with existing and potential partners throughout the week to discuss these evolving priorities and explore collaboration opportunities across the biopharmaceutical value chain.

Samsung Biologics showcased its expanding capabilities across the development continuum, from organoid-based drug screening and cell line development to process development and manufacturing. The company also highlighted its growing global presence following the integration of the Rockville, Maryland, facility earlier this year. Throughout the event, an interactive survey engaged visitors on the key priorities and challenges shaping today’s development landscape, delivering valuable insights into the evolving needs of clients and the industry.

During the press conference held alongside the BIO event, John Rim, President and CEO of Samsung Biologics, shared the company’s plan to further strengthen its proximity to clients by opening a European sales office in the Netherlands later this year. Together with its existing offices in the U.S. and Japan, the new location will help Samsung Biologics better support clients across major biopharmaceutical markets. Rim also highlighted that the company will continue investing to broaden its service portfolio, and noted that its third Bio Campus, which will house production facilities to support next-generation modalities such as peptides and adeno-associated viruses (AAV), began early-phase construction in May.

The conference also offered opportunities for broader industry dialogue. James Choi, Executive Vice President and Head of Sales Support, joined a panel discussion, alongside industry leaders to share perspectives on developments influencing the biopharmaceutical landscape. The session explored topics including manufacturing capacity, supply chain considerations, and the role of collaboration in driving future innovation.

The company’s senior executives also actively engaged with visitors and the media. During a BPI Theater interview, Jeff Mason, Vice President and Head of US Sales, discussed how geopolitical uncertainty, supply chain considerations, and regional manufacturing initiatives continue to reshape the CDMO landscape. Despite these shifting dynamics, he noted that outsourcing demand remains strong, driven by the continued advancement of biologics pipelines, with companies balancing manufacturing capacity, supply flexibility, and geographic reach to support future growth.

A recurring theme throughout BIO 2026 was the power of collaboration in navigating a rapidly changing landscape. Many attendees reinforced the importance of partnership in advancing future therapies. For Samsung Biologics, the event served as a valuable platform to engage with partners, gain deeper insights into evolving industry priorities, and help shape the next chapter of biologics innovation.
The Samsung Biologics team thanks all who connected with the team and looks forward to continuing the conversation.
